As per the National Center for Educational Statistics, the full-time retention rate in postsecondary institutions was 76.5% in fall 2022, which means that about 23.5% of first-year college students do not return to the same postsecondary institution in their second year. This happens for many reasons, but from my experience, most of the time it is due to a lack of college preparation. To counter this problem, we offer a 6-week college transition support program to any first-year, first-time college student. We understand that college can be overwhelming for any student, so we work with your student during the first six weeks to help. them settle into their new college environment.
We will go over important topics like class schedules, navigating Office House and other college policies, seeking academic support like tutoring or study skills, reviewing time management techniques, planning out all of the major assignments and exams for the semester, and checking in with students on a regular basis to see how they're doing. To make sure everyone is in agreement, we will follow up with the student and their parents via email following each meeting.
We'll progressively lessen our support over the course of the six weeks to help students become more self-reliant and assured of their college-level skills. It is crucial to remember that we are only advisors and that the student must exert effort and complete the assigned tasks. Our goal is to support you in thriving and making the most of your time in college. So allow us to help you accomplish your academic objectives.
